When I first discovered Restoran Malaysia, it was half of the size it is now and was always packed but they expanded and renovated, no wait time anymore! The menu consists of a mix of Malay, Chinese and Indian cuisines but all done very well. We celebrated Chris' birthday here and oh boy did we order a lot of food for 6 people.
We started off with the Appetizer Platter, $22.50, it includes 3 satay beef, 3 satay chicken, 3 fish cake, 3 spring rolls served with plum sauce & peanut sauce.
Tender meat, crispy spring rolls and mouth-watering fish cakes!
If you come you must get the roti and some sort of curry, We decided on the Roti and Curry Chicken, $8.50. The roti is crispy and soft at the same time and, piping hot and the perfect vessel for soaking up the curry. The roti is so good we got 2 extra orders.
We also shared the Indonesian fried rice or Nasi Goring, $10.00, fried rice with chicken, shrimp, mixed vegetables, egg, topped with fried egg and shrimp chips. A nice change to the typical pineapple fried rice.
I don't remember the name of this dish but it was basically Cantonese Chow Mein, nothing outstanding but still yummy.
As we were walking to our table I was scooping out what other tables were eating and not even in a subtle way...It's a bad habit I have. One of the tables had what looked like fried chicken pieces with shrimp crackers. I knew right at the moment we had to order it.
The dish was Malay fried chicken or Ayam goring kampung, $11.00. Crispy, hot and flavourful, it had a special kind of taste that I can't really point out but it was just really good.
We absolutely love green curry, we got the Green Curry Beef. It was full of bold flavours and incredibly spicy. Down side is that the beef was a little tough.
Great food, huge portions, reasonable prices, authentic flavours and good service! What else could you want? Oh! They also really refreshing blended drinks! I love the Malaysian Cooler, orange juice-pineapple juice-coconut milk.
